Due to the fact that the surface of the workpiece is not damaged during the processing, the excess energy generated during processing will lead to surface strengthening of the workpiece substrate. The surface of the workpiece after shot peening treatment is also of metallic natural color, but due to the spherical surface, some of the light is refracted, so the workpiece is processed in a matte effect.


Shot blasting can prevent high residual tensile stress on the surface of parts, generate compressive stress, and improve their fatigue strength. Scope of use: General steel parts with a service temperature exceeding 260 ℃, and aluminum parts with a service temperature exceeding 170 ℃ do not require shot blasting treatment. Because the use temperature is too high, the compressive stress generated by shot blasting will be eliminated and the expected effect will be lost.


What factors affect the effectiveness of Dalian shot blasting processing


1. Hardness of steel shot and sand: When the hardness of steel shot and sand is higher than that of the parts, the change in its hardness does not affect the shot blasting strength. If the workpiece is too soft at this time, be careful not to be damaged, and adjust the power of the shot blasting machine appropriately to reduce the shot blasting strength; When the steel shot and sand are softer than the parts, if the hardness value of the shot blasting decreases, the shot blasting strength also decreases. If the desired effect is not achieved, the power of the shot blasting machine can be appropriately increased to increase the shot blasting strength.


2. Shot blasting rate: When the shot blasting rate increases, the shot blasting strength also increases, but when the rate is too high, the amount of steel shot and sand damage increases.


3. Thickness of steel shot and sand: The larger the steel shot and sand, the greater the impact kinetic energy and the greater the shot blasting strength. Therefore, while ensuring the strength of shot blasting, it is advisable to only use smaller steel shot and sand, as this will increase the cleaning efficiency relatively. The size of shot blasting is also limited by the appearance of the parts. When there are grooves on the parts, the diameter of the steel shot and sand should be less than half of the inner radius of the groove.


The density is directly related to the lifespan of the steel shot. If the density of the steel shot is low, it indicates that there are many internal pores and cracks in the steel shot, or the carbon content is high, which is easy to break during use. A steel shot has few pores and microcracks, high density, and a lifespan of 2744.15 revolutions; B. The density of C steel shot is low, with more pores and microcracks, resulting in a correspondingly low lifespan of only 2452.05 revolutions and 2218.42 revolutions.
