Dalian shot blasting is a machining process that acts on metal surfaces, similar to sandblasting and shot peening. It is achieved by throwing spherical projectile particles onto the surface of a metal workpiece, relying on strong impact force to change the surface roughness of the workpiece, and also improving the adhesion of the subsequent paint film of the workpiece, thereby improving the mechanical performance of the workpiece. Shot blasting is almost used in most fields of machinery, such as shipbuilding, automotive parts, aircraft components, gun tank surfaces, bridges, steel structures, glass, steel plate profiles, anti-corrosion of pipeline inner and outer walls, and even road surfaces.


The steel shot and iron shot used for shot blasting are actually not real shots. To be precise, they are small steel wires or rods that only look like balls after being used for a period of time. The so-called sandblasting sand, to put it bluntly, is just river sand, which is no different from building sand. It is only the sand used for sandblasting that has been sieved, contains less mud, and has a specified particle size. Of course, there are also differences in some industries, such as the shipbuilding industry where real steel shot is used for shot blasting and metal mineral sand (not river sand quartz sand) is used for sandblasting.

The shot blasting treatment process and equipment control the surface condition after treatment through the following three parameters according to the different surfaces that need to be treated:


1. Choose the size and shape of the steel shot, which determines the surface roughness after treatment.


2. The walking speed of the shot blasting equipment determines the depth of treatment.


3. The flow rate of steel shot determines the efficiency of shot blasting.
